technopolies

Today, technology has become an ever greater presence in our world today. However, it is not only a presence in society but it is what's keeping us alive. Ever since man created fire, people have been dependent on technology, and due to that dependence we have constantly been finding advancements in technology which some describe as technopolies. Now one of the great scientific theories is Darwin's theory of natural selection and the survival of the fittest. Of course with people that seems a little askew which is due to technology. Now, rather than letting the handicapped people become a victim of predators society protects them with technology. The weak, the uneducated and all those with insufficient survival skills would also be gone without the advancements in technology. It seems that survival of the fittest doesn't even apply to humans any more, which is a result of technopolies. Technopolies have become an order of nature for humans. It is ever present and it is a constant factor in our lives, and that constant factor is that technology is constantly changing. If technology ever went stagnant then I'm afraid that humans would eventually perish. Not only that though, but I feel that technopolies get human back to the idea of survival of the fittest, however, not in the sense of life and death but of how successful a person is. Now without technology only the rich would be successful, but with technopolies and its constant changing it levels the playing field allows more people with the skills like education and perseverance to succeed without needing money to allow them to be successful. Of course technopolies hasn't eliminated the element of money leading to success, but it has helped those without as much money. Like just look at education. In the beginning only those who were endowed with knowledge were smart because everyone had to do it on their own. Then the advancement in books came so now people could read and learn. Then schools and colleges came which taught kids that gave them basic skills and knowledge, and much quicker than ever before. And now with the internet, anyone with access to a computer literally has a limitless amount of information at the tip of their fingers. Technology has leveled the playing field dramatically with people’s ability to learn without having a lot of money to their name. The same can be said with communication and transportation, with cell phones, email, instant messenger, trains planes, and automobiles. All of these thing technology has created and has allowed the truly fit to rise above the rest rather than the truly rich. And so technopolies has become a nature of order in the lives of people and without it human beings would be lost.
