Coffman Union was established in 1940, and today’s Coffman reopened three years ago. Since that time, it has been the important part for students at the University of Minnesota. There can be many reasons why Coffman has been the center of students’ life. One of the reasons is the things in Coffman. There is the University Bookstore where every students at the U of M buys text book and class supplies. Also, there are some places to eat, such as Starbucks coffee shop, Jamba Juice, and cafeteria. Furthermore, there are the activity office, theater, and game rooms for students’ entertainment.
Another important reason is its environmental features. It is located in the center of campus, right next to the Washington Bridge that connects the West bank and East bank. This environmental merit makes Coffman more useful. It is easily accessible, and the Bridge is long enough to make the busy students feel tired. Whether they need a place to take a short nap between classes, or to grab some snacks, they can go to Coffman. Coffman is always filled with students and staffs having meetings, taking a break, studying, and talking; it is the heart of the U of M.
