PA 5990 The Art of Politics and the Ethics of Legislating

44492 Five number code for Fall 2008

Taught by former speaker of the MN House of Representatives and current Humphrey fellow, Steve Sviggum

This is a 3 credit Fall elective at the Humphrey Institute. Whether your democrat, republican, independent, indifferent, whatever, Steve Sviggum provides a very in-depth look at politics in Minnesota and how to affect legislative change. His nearly 30 years in the MN House of Representatives give him more experience than most others. This course is not academic or theoretical - it is more of a seminar, but I learned an immense amount about Minnesota politics from both sides of the aisle. Guest speakers included Governor Tim Pawlenty, Senator Norm Coleman and members of the media and current and former democrat and republican members of the Minnesota legislature. Steve is genuinely and sincerely concerned about the success of his students and class absolutely flew by. Ann Lindstrom
