I found this piece...

which resembles milton glaser's...

It has a sort of psycadelic feel to it like earlier pop/push pin art.

I searched and searched but I was unable to find an article with illustrations and typography. I looked in the few magazines I had laying around and on the internet, but I had no luck.

Findings - Anatomy of Poster

I found this poster advertising the Canadian Filmmakers Festival. It puts a twist on the famous Jaws movie advertisement by adding an ice-fisherman up top. Ice fishing is a very popular sport in Canada, as well as in Minnesota, so the fact that they put a humongous shark going after the bait makes it quite humorous and gives the poster a totally different feel.

International Design Compared to Western Design.

I chose this Swiss Poster titled "St. Moritz". When comparing this poster to western posters I noticed that the Swiss tend to lean towards hand-drawn/painted/made images, instead of towards real photographs. Many Western posters involve real photographs. They also use more washed out colors instead of bright colors often times seen in Western posters. Also, Swiss posters are very to the point and show you exactly what they want you to see. This poster for example is advertising a ski hill/resort. Western posters tend to try and engage the viewer more and make them think about what they are seeing.

Museum on the Seam: International Coexistence Project

The first thing I noticed when this site popped up was the Coexistence poster with the black and white birds on it. Something clicked and then I remembered that I see it every other day right next to the door to go into VKH 131. It made me wonder if who designed that poster thought that it'd be posted right next to a classroom that every single graphic design student at UMD uses. It inspires me to work really hard on our current project because the winner's poster is going to be seen by who knows how many people and that would be really cool!
