Fun with Reading

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

(Meme via The Republic of T.)

Mine is from "Galatea 2.2" by Richard Powers:

...I needed to interrogate the source.
"You make me happy," I told Imp. C. I waited, sick, to see what it would say...

I enjoy books set on university campuses--As if I don't get enough of my own! Just by accident, I picked up this book and "Wittgenstein's Poker" at the same time at Half-Price Books, and they both happen to touch on issues of epistemology. And, I'm reading both as I reflect on how I came to know what I think I know about what I want to research... And, what is a meme, you say? Check it out for yourself.

Nice, when planets align like that.
