So I'm driving in to work this morning--had just dropped the kids off at school--and what do I hear on the radio? KMOJ' s drive-time DJ played "I'd Rather Be With You" by Bootsy Collins. Upon hearing the opening bass thumps I let out a piercing scream and immediately pumped the volume as high as my wagon's sound system would allow, in the process severely startling a group of students waiting to cross the street. (Guess my wagon is not very sound-proof.)
So I drove on down the road, my heart about bursting with joy and my head and neck doing that snapping thing that happens when the beat has worked into your spine. Oh yeah. I'm bringing funky back. "It's a cold world, baby"--So what a wonderful way to start a Monday morning. Having that 4-minute party in my car almost made up for my simultaneous realization that I am O-L-D!
