Thanks, Mon, for alerting me to this. Here is the new message up at the site:
We have determined that the online voting has been corrupted as a result of one or more instances of tampering with the voting process by users. As a result, none of the online votes will be counted, and we will submit all three of the semi-finalists to our panel of experts for final judging and selection of a winner.
No idea what that is all about, but if anyone knows more info, please let me know!

Take a look at how some contemporary Black young women see themselves--the skin they're in and the hair they wear:
A Girl Like Me, by Kiri Davis"The issues my friends and I face inspired me to create this documentary. Through my interviews, it became extremely apparent how European beauty standards still maintain a dominant role in our society. Society imposes standards that affect us all no matter what your sex or race is. I hope the film helps girls everywhere understand that you can’t allow other people to define who you are. You have to define and celebrate yourself. You have to love the skin you're in!"
Ms. Davis' film is one of the three finalists of the CosmoGIRL! Take Action Hollywood Film Contest. You have until noon (EST) Friday, April 13th to vote for the winner.
Posted by perry032 at April 12, 2007 10:49 AM | TrackBackYou are the second person today to point me to this young woman's documentary and of course when I finally sit down to watch it, they have cancelled the online voting due to "corruption" and will be deciding the winner through a panel of experts. Interesting.
Posted by: Mon at April 12, 2007 08:56 PMI first looked at this documentary when I was referred by a friend in a conversation about Christian education. We have a tremendous daughter and I will write a future blog entry, "Lydi Lane...Growing up in a Hannah Montanna world." We can work and prepare our daughters for what is to come, but the stakes seem to get higher each and every day. Here's to moms that are trying to help those ladies love the skin they are in.
For my take on it:

Posted by: Aimee Laramore at April 13, 2007 05:12 PMHi :) Well a lot of people have sent emails and have called Cosmogirl because apparently Kiri was in the lead or close to winning. They issued a statement to Radar Magazine, an online magazine, and they wrote an article about it. Neither I, other bloggers, or the people at Concrete Loop got responses to emails or phone calls. We will see where this goes but atleast people like you are spreading the word :)
Posted by: BronzeTrinity at April 15, 2007 06:20 PMI'm sorry I didn't let you know about this sooner as well... I first saw the video two weeks agp, but I only posted about it last Wednesday night...(and I linked to one of your posts in the process as you may have noticed). I haven't gone back to the Cosmo Girl site since Friday, but I thought it was weird that the voting had being discontinued as of MIDNIGHT Thursday night (really, really strange) since I tried to get my last two votes in before going to bed. I hope this gets cleared! The other movies are clearly inferior to Kiri's. One is a music video about choices (badly staged, I thought), and the other one about weight just has extremely poor sound and quality overall. I wish we in the blogosphere could make enough noise about this that could be noticed!!
