Walker joins Wolves

In a recent trade that sent Ricky Davis and Mark Blount to the Miami Heat, the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired three-time NBA all-star Antoine Walker. Walker is an 11-year veteran who will add some experience to the Timberwolves extremely young lineup.

Walker was being shopped around by the Heat ever since he reported to training camp 17 lbs over his targeted playing weight. It had been no secret that Walker and coach Pat Riley never saw eye-to-eye about Walker's conditioning. Because of Miami's willingness to get rid of the former Kentucky star the Timberwolves picked him up for a pretty good price. Ricky Davis is the only real loss in this trade. However, the Wolves have two young swingmen in rookie Corey Brewer and three-year veteran and former first-round pick Rashad McCants waiting to fill the departed stars spot in the lineup.

It will be interesting to see how quickly Walker meshes with such a young team, and how much help he can provide them.
