ok the ban on abercrombie is back. really it's been going on for a while. but i was just thinking everything would be ok. and it still is. but i was in american eagle getting some of those athletic shorts with the pockets in them and i happened to be wearing my brown abercrombie shirt. the stupid homo behind the counter at southdale AE was like "abercrombie!" and i'm like, " yeah...i know, i have issues with them. it goes deep" and so i've decided that the ban is back. i had previously banned them because i hated the people at my high school that wore their clothes. well, hate is a little strong. i just thought they were sheepish and that they thought they were so cool for wearing abercrombie so it made them so sexy etc etc etc. perhaps it did but i never wanted anything to do with such a style. then i got to college and realized that perhaps i could pull off that style without seeming like those idiots from parkway west. and maybe i did. but my hatred for them has built up. so i just won't buy anymore. and i'll encourage others never to go in that store again. of course, there are still A LOT of idiots out there in the world that i will refuse to interact with. they might still shop there, thus they'll still be able to remain in business.

after going to the mall i went to IKEA. that was cute. way too many people there. however i liked it and i disliked it. the showrooms were nice. i like most of the furniture and styles that they have. i hate little kids. people who take their kids there in strollers should be shot. then their kids can be dangled on the electrical lines for the light rail train. and i didn't really like the whole exhibition route that you walk through. well maybe i would have enjoyed it more if people did not walk so damn slow! i felt like i was being herded through some capitalistic adventure where i was supposed to be like "oooo" and "ahhhh." whatever. i'm not going to buy anything now. it wasn't that great that people had to stop and get in my way. what's even worse is traffic on 494. it seems whichever way i go there is ALWAYS traffic. and there's none in the other direction. they seriously need to expand the light rail system so i don't have to drive when i want to go to southdale.

and apparently i have high blood pressure...well, i was drinking a latte when they took the measurements so that might have altered the results just a bit. and i am in desperate need of another caffenated drink. or something, i can't go into work with my eye like plastered shut! i'm already yawning and it's only 3 oclock!

As for bringing kids to IKEA in strollers, what bothers me about that type of thing (and perhaps you as well) is this whole illusion of happy domesticity: let's take the happy kids to the happy furniture store so we can have a happy time at our happy house in the suburbs. Someone should blow up the suburbs.

I'd like to write more, but I only write well when I'm bitter, and I'm not feeling bitter enough today. Maybe I need to stay out later.

Okay to everyone judging Abercrombie & Fitch...
Abercrombie & Fitch is not about richness and popularity... "it's about a way of style."
It wasn't ment for preppy people to wear... But that's how most people wear it as. I have a Sister who works in A&F, and she's native american. Abercromie & Fitch is a diverse cultural clothing. you can wear the clothes and look non-preppy. But as far as the Prices go... I'd have to say because the material is better. It has better quaility. It wont shrink, fade, or look ugly after 10 years. and Plus they steam the clothes in the back before they put it up on the shelves so it wont look ugly. But the clothes is definately 100% gaurunteed to last. And about the racist thing... they actually aren't, because they are all about DIVERSITY INCLUSION. check out the site, they even explain how they combine all races. And hollister co. is the same too, I dont wear clothes from Hollister, or AE. only A&F. theres just alot of things people dont understand about A&F. but the main reason why most people hate it is because they may not like someone who always wears it. and A&F will never go out of Business. they've got 10 years ahead of them.

The company was actually a sporting goods shop in new york in the 1980'2 The owner was David Abercrombie. he had a customer who love the shop known as Ezra Fitch. Ezra was a lawyer and enjoyed his time off work to go camping. the Shop was a place he would go to purchase things like fishing poles, tents, etc... Then in 1900 ezra teamed up with david and created the name Abercrombie & Fitch. they had good times and bad times, but in 1920 david retired and left the shop to Ezra. by 1970 Abercrombie & Fitch went Bankrupt. so a company in Texas bought the shop, and THE LIMITED CO. bought Abercrombie & Fitch LOGO. So by 1990 they had started to sell clothes.

Just buy what feels right and looks good no matter what store it is and revel in the fact that you can casually flex your materialistic muscle whenever you want. In the end, people will look at you more if you look good in something and less if you are just wearing something cause it's from xyz store. this is true sometimes. but being an athlete i like clothes that fit and feel comfortable, so i tried abercrombie stuff and loved it. it's a shame these goth guys get off on dissing people who wear it but who cares. and by the way you don't have to be rich to shop there, they got a sale rack just like everybody else.

i cant stand when rich idiots go to abercrombie and spend a fortune to look cool. but it's good clothing, and if you buy it for the right reasons (comfort, quality, etc) i don't see what the big problem is. don't hate abercrombie for appealing to so many people, they're just making their money like they're supposed to.

It's amazing to see the amount of "biased" responses in this argument.

This is what Abercrombie, Hollister, AE, Gap, Walmart, Aeropostale, Old Navy, Kohls, Hot Topic, JC Penney, Ruehl and any other "Brand" store means to me:

First off, let me say that I like to shop everywhere. I used to only get my clothes from KOHL's.

Abercrombie and Fitch is a great store, no matter what any of you say. Their clothing QUALITY is top-notch and that is why the prices are higher. You can't buy "the same thing" anywhere else. You can't just buy a regular T-shirt and sew on a moose embroidery. Not ALL Abercrombie wearers are stupid stuck-up bitches like you people say they are. I buy Abercrombie because it has the best fit FOR ME and it is the most comfortable clothing I've ever worn. They have better sewn buttons, sometimes suede linings on their shirts so it isn't uncomfortable along the neck line, better sewn pockets/seems, longer sleeves with usually lengthy comfort zones along the wrist and hands. And it isn't always expensive either. They have a clearance section in the store where you can buy cheaper (yet older) clothes. Abercrombie has a rather "prep" feel to it because of what kids and society in general have made it become (rich snobs bragging about their clothes). A lot of it has to do with their marketing too. I try to look past those stereotypes. But I do however, I know a broad array of people who buy from Abercrombie. Great thing about Abercrombie is that their clothes last a looonnngggg time.

Hollister/AE: Both of these stores I like and shop at. Hollister has good quality jeans and shirts (including polos), although not as good as quality as Abercrombie, but still long-lasting. Their prices are also a little bit cheaper than Abercrombie's. I like American Eagles hoodies and jeans. I also like their t-shirts because they are light and fit comfortably. The one drawback to AE's t-shirts though is the fact that they are extremely thin and the colors can bleed easily (this can be avoided if it is washed "COLD"). I own a track jacket from AE also, and I love it.

Aeropostale: I like this store for their hoodies as well as their zip-ups and for their jeans. Aeropostale is VERY comparable in prices to many other stores. Most of their stuff is inexpensive as well. There clothes are trendy but aren't as compulsive as having the "prep image". Although they are cheaper, their clothes aren't as long-lasting and don't contain all the "luxury" items associated with clothes and they also don't also fit correctly (at least on me :). It's a great store, however, with Aesthetically pleasing clothes at a good price.

Gap: This is a nice store that sells mostly "preppy" clothing. They have a lot of stuff that is casual as well as dress-up. They are sort of expensive (along the lines between Abrecrombie and Hollister). I think of them as less casual and more dress-upish. But I have bought some jeans from there and a few polo shirts which were nice.

Old Navy/Kohls/JC Penney: Old Navy has a lot of great clothes with a wide variety. I've bought a t-shirt, belt, and hoodie from there. I really like the quality (although some of their stuff falls apart fast). Anyone can pretty much find something at Old Navy at a good price. Kohls has a lot of nice clothes (and I also like their colognes :D). They have the Chaps Ralph Lauren line for adults and the kids section has a lot of nice clothes. In the past year they've gotten a lot more trendier/fashion sensible. Good thing about Kohl's is lower prices but the drawbacks include not as long-lasting clothing. JC Penney is the same deal as Kohls - they have decent clothing (I like some of their jeans).

Hot Topic: Sells mostly black clothing with a strong sense of the "Goth" style. Not gonna lie, I'm not too much into the goth type of clothing. Not only does it look uncomfortable, but it isn't very good-looking/aesthetically pleasing. It comes across to me that these people are vowing for attention of some sort, but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to each man/woman his/her own.

I think clothing does represent people in some sort of way - whether we want it to or not. I've seen the very extremes of both "Goth" styles and "Prep" styles. I say, just get whatever is available for your budget, and whatever fits and looks good. We will never, however, get out of the idea that clothes represent a person. Preps will still come across as the stereotypical outgoing snob with money to burn and the goths will still come across as the loner with no (or few, or maybe many) friends who are evil and worship the devil. People should just wear what ever they like. Wear what makes you feel like you. Be Comfortable with yourself and what you wear. I shop mostly A&F and everywhere else, (but not gap, rarely AE, we'll see what Hollister has for sleeveless T's)I like taking my ezra fitch jeans and wearing them with Prada, Dolcci&Gabanna, Coach, Ralph Lauren, Armani, Gucci, Zegna, etc. But I don't really like the stuff that says "Abercrombie and Fitch" written right on it. NO! I try and keep it mixed and labels on the DL. Sometimes you just know I'm wearing abercrombie!And 60% or more of my outfit is.I dont like that. I can wear an all white A&f button up, they look good with my Prada sunglasses. And the denim at A&F has so many great fits. Im liking the the baxter slim low rise boot cut (which shows the ladies my backside exactly how I would want it portraid.)... which goes extremely well with my light tanish suede Gucci shoes. Put that outfit together and your (at least me) makkin' it. I'm glad we live in a country that offers so much of whatever we need. We should appreceiate the things we can do, theres no need to argue over who bought what and where and for how much. That person you hate in A&F.... just might be getting that last piece she needed to put with those sexy jeans she has? I'll take her out tonight.

For an AVERAGE pair of jeans over here, it would set you back at least £60 ($120), so Abercrombie & Fitch jeans are cheap for us. And it costs me less to buy a shirt from A&F, AND ship it to the UK than it would to go into a store and buy a shirt.

I personally don't like abercrombie but I do shop at Hollister and I have been in Hot Topic a few times. There's nothing wrong with abercrombie. If people want to wear it, its fine. I personally don't shop there, but Ive been in there before. They don't only have small sizes. I wear a size 00 and I can hardly ever find pants anywhere, they have a lot of larger sizes. So its just as hard for skinny people as larger people. Yeah theyre prices are too high, but they do look good. I don't know about the quality. I got a shirt from my friend for my birthday that cost about $35 and got a 2 tiny holes in it in like 3 wks. So... But still I kind of like Abercrombie and they are one of the few places small sizes can find a couple of pants.

And also, just because you wear polos and A&F doesnt mean you are trying to be a prep or that you're a skank. I hate how people always keep saying Im acting like a prep because of what I buy. I just like it and think it looks cool.

The Abercrombie logo represents death to our generation and being unique. In my high school, it seems everyone is produced out of an abercrombie machine and they are a member of some abercrombie prep cult. These people truly (and sadly) believe that abercrombie is classy, even with the very necessary holes and paint stains. I miss the old days (before high school) when people would wear something showing who they are. One kid is a jock, he wears Nike, this kid loves hip hop, he wears sean john, another kid loves to skateboard, so he wears his favorite logos and skate company shirts. Now it seems all of these unique people have been stirred up into 1 group...abercrombie/preps. There is a misconception around that if you're white you must wear either abercrombie, hollister or american eagle. THIS IS NOT TRUE! There are plenty of other brands out there that can help you show people who YOU are not who people want you to be. I would bet that most people that wear abercrombie don't even consider it quality, but the reason they wear it is to fit in and be accepted by the majority in today's schools. The idea of an individual is dying thanks to abercrombie and the lifestyle it promotes. No longer are urban people proud of their own street style...they are converting to the big conformity that is abercrombie. This movement has turned people that prefer alternative styles other than preppy ones, into a minority. Abercrombie and their models are as diverse as malibu. Very, very rarely will you ever see a black/latino/indian/asian person featured in an ad for abercrombie. I keep trying to give my opinion about this in my school, but my opinion always gets rejected and ignored since 90% of the people sport abercrombie here. I can only hope that this is a dying fad among our generation and that people will start acting themselves instead of how other people want them to act. To the minority that agrees with this and doesn't belong to the prep cult, may god bless you.
