funny? yes. appropriate? no.

so i'm back from immersion. and it was...well...ok i guess. the activities and team building, now that was fun. but just having my whole day planned like that is exhausting.

and then there was our skit.

oh let me tell you about it. gather round children.

now, i was on the 12th floor, or, as we liked to call it, the penthouse. so we decided to do a "penthouse" cover of a magazine. and goldy was covered in a sheet. it looked really cute. now, since it was the penthouse, we also wanted to do something "sexy" or "scandalous" so we had all the guys on our floor dress in drag. it was funny, and that's what we were going for. the biggest laugh. and we got the biggest laugh. it was hilarious.

however, unfortunately, some people in housing were not impressed. thus, we are in trouble! which leaves me with a dilemma. do i apologize or not? i mean, i just want to forget about this thing if they weren't happy with it. but, if it would be necessary to get credibility back, should i just go talk to someone and be like: i'm really sorry, we didn't know what we were doing. it was inappropriate but we could only see getting the biggest laugh as the most important thing.

anyhow. it's all over and done with so i'd like to forget about it.

Yeah, Why should you have to back down and give in to "The Man".. I say you stand your ground and stick it to him. :-)

Maybe it woud be best to say something. What would it hurt? It may make YOU look better than the rest;-)

For one thing, I have difficulty believing that you found enough drag clothes for all the guys on your floor. As far as apologizing, I think what you proposed makes sense: you were trying to be funny, it got out of hand. Of course I tend to be overly submissive, so maybe don't take my advice.

I wanted to let you know that I was being sarcastic earlier. I do however, think that you are making a big deal out of something that isn't a huge problem.

Now if a superior came up to you to talk about it then I would apologize, however up until then I would like to think that people know others make mistakes and that your skit was not intented to be offensive.

well, seeing as how a university is a campus of free spirit, thought, and not always political correctness, I think the fact that you should apologize for a "skit" is a crock of shit.. so to speak. Granted I dont know the whole story, but as I see it, the buildings are still standing, no one is burning the national flag, and you werent standing in front of the whole student body degrading the institution, then screw em. Dont apologize.

Should I be corrected in my thoughts? Am I wrong? Who cares.. you have your opinion, I have mine, and we will agree to disagree if they arent the same. Stand your ground and just be more cunning next time ;)

i'm just not going to refer to this whole ideal at all anymore. as far as i'm concerned. it didn't happen. and no one really seems to care right now.
