So I'm 23 now. I went out for my birthday on Saturday night... and wow what a night. I could have/should have been way drunker, but all in all it was a good time. After a few unsuccessful attempts at dinner reservations... first at A Rebours, then at Bar Lurcat, I "settled" on JP American Bistro.
The seared hangar steak that I was was amazing. Everything about the dish was perfect. My sisters gnochi, however, left a bit to be desired. There was too much going on with the flavors and it left my palatte confused. It's like they just dumped a ton of spices in there, albeit with though, although the result was a "messed up" flavor. Everything else was amaing. The service, the decor. There was just one thing that detracted from the experience and that was out of their control. Let's just say the next time I go there (I'd totally go back) my family won't be around.
After dinner we stopped by Virat and Bryan's new house. My sisters got to meet a few of my friends in a quiet environment... they seemed to like them. I thought it might be nice to get to know a few of my friends in a quiet setting before the bar.
Then we headed to Boom! (it has since closed) to check out a Minneapolis gay bar. It was packed (as expected) but we managed to get Doug to buy us drinks. Thanks Doug! Jet Set was next, as we had no chance at getting a second drink, and I was far from inebriated. One drink at Jet Set was nice before heading to, yes, I know, where else? The Saloon.
The Saloon has always ranged from good to okay to boring for me, but never have I felt nervous there. Saloon with my sister? Yikes! Enough said. I'm just thankful my sister didn't get totally freaked out. According to her, she's seen a lot worse: hotter men, bigger showers, gayer gays.
Well at least I'm back to my regular schedule. That's the best thing in the world.
I got a egg mcmuffin sandwich maker for my birthday! It was awesome! Also, Alan put together an awesome video of "Happy Birthdays" from various people that I know. Those were the best. I loved them both, Thank you Brad and Alan.
