Dreaming of Iceland

In case there's anyone reading this that doesn't really know me or talk to me on at least a weekly basis, it may come as a surprise to the reader that I am heading to Europe this summer. I've scrounged up a few pennies and some vacation time here and there and talked with some people I know that will be there.

For some reason this is all I can dream of right now.

I could just camp here and watch this everday, and I would be happy.

This is my proposed route. Yes, I am flying IcelandAir. I know they're cheap but I just don't care. They're the only major airline to go to Iceland from Minneapolis.

It's strange but I've never really had a particular desire to go to London. I'm sure it will be great though. I might meet up with Cathal, or Mr. Smith perhaps. Or just, you know, meet random people, which is always fun to do when traveling alone. And since it will just be for about a week or so, I won't have to pack too much clothes, which means I only have to worry about carrying just some slutty clothing, which usually weighs less than normal clothing.

Oh my god, how unbelievably gorgeous.

I've always had a fascination with visiting Iceland. Do go there and let us know how it is! I hear Reykjavik is teeny-tiny.

Don't know why you're down on London. It is one of the world's great cities. I was there earlier this month with a friend for a theatre weekend and had a great time. Despite all the hype Equus was only ok. (other than the novelty of seeing Radcliffe naked and smoking it was a bit beyond his range as an actor). In contrast, Patrick Stewart in the Tempest was much better. St Johns is fun for lunch if you want an unusual British restaurant. They are know for using all the parts of the animals - have the bone marrow plate. Red Fort in soho is great northern indian and has a pre-theatre dinner. Go for a drink in OXO tower for a view of St. Pauls and the London skyline. Finally get out to Greenwich to see Christopher Wren's Naval college and the Royal Observatory. Take the docklands express out but the boat up the Thames back. Try to resist your interest in slutting around the gay clubs and see the city.

Wander around Islington and Hampstead, the hot neighborhoods. Make sure you walk to the top of Hampstead Heath.

If you're in London on Friday, go to the Leadenhall next to Lloyds. Everyone takes off early Friday and drinks a few pints. Lots of smart looking lads in their stylish suits.

Iceland is god awful expensive last time I was there. Do treat yourself to a massage at the new spa at the Blue Lagoon. Rent a car and get out of the city for a few days.
