Just in from a Run

So summer is inching its way back into my life up here in Minnesota, and I decided to take advantage of the warm weather to go for a jog around campus. I've been interested in the renovation of the old minerals research building. It looks pretty nice right now, right by the old. They're finally taking the tons of coal out of the building.

In case you didn't know, this building was really serving no other purpose than to store coal. Right next to the Institute for Child Development. Yay, let's give the kids cancer. I've run by this building countless times and always been facinated by its lack of use. Although the building is somewhat out of the way (coming from the West Bank or Stadium Village at least) I would like to take a class in there. The view from the inside would, for sure, be distracting. According to their plans though, it will just be lab space and offices... no classrooms. It'll be just another Knoll Area Building I have never been in. The list goes on:
Eddy Hall, Peik Hall, Pattee Hall, Shevlin Hall, Norris Hall, Scott Hall, Wesbrook Hall, Music Education, Institute for Child Development, I have never set foot in these buildings on campus, and I probably never will.

I think someone at one time proposed leveling the whole Knoll Area to replace it with new buildings. I would only agree with that regarding two buildings: Peik Hall and Gym. The rest should stay.
