According to the Bradenton Herald, "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" posted the biggest opening of the year at the box office. The 3-D, animated film exceeded expectations, raking in an estimated $70.7 million.
The film included stars such as Danny DeVito, Taylor Swift and Zac Efron and was based on Dr. Seuss' 1971 children's book about a small, orange character on a mission to save trees.
The Hollywood Reporter reports the environmentally-minded animation film was an enormous victory for the film business as well, revenue reflected an increase of nearly 30 percent this weekend.
