Stevie Wonder files for divorce

According to New York Daily News, Stevie Wonder is filing for divorce from his fashion designer wife, Kai Millard Morris.

July 26, Wonder filed for a divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and is requesting joint custody of the couple's two children, Kailand and Mandia.

reports Wonder and Morris had been separated since late 2009, according to Los Angeles Superior Court filings. The couple had been married for 11 years.

Usain Bolt wins the gold again

Jamaican runner and Olympic champion, Usain Bolt, takes the gold in the 100-meter dash in the London 2012 Olympics.

USA Today reported Bolt, 25, came into the games saying he wanted "to become a legend." After winning the gold with the second-fastest time in history, a 9.63 seconds, Bolt said, "It means I'm one step closer to being a legend. I have the 200 (meters) to go, so I'm looking forward to that. The 100 is just one step in the door."

As reported by the Washington Post, Jamaican Yohan Blake follows closely behind Bolt for the silver at 9.75 seconds and Justin Gatlin of the U.S. won the bronze with a time of 9.79.

Minnesota Fringe Festival

The Pioneer Press reports the 19th annual Minnesota Fringe Festival begins Aug. 2 through Aug 12, showcasing 165 shows, chosen by lottery, over 15 stages.

Fringe executive director Robin Gillette told the Press, "There's also a ton of improve this year."

According to the City Pages, the 11-day presentation of shows brings a lot of work to local actors.

4-year-old falls from apartment window

A 4-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after falling out a third-floor, apartment window in Spring Park Sunday morning.

KARE 11 News reports Orono Police Chief Correy Farniok says the young boy pushed through the window and screen of the Spring Lake apartment's living room and fell out of the window.

As reported by the Star Tribune, the boy was taken to North Memorial Medical Center after falling nearly 25 feet. Police are investigating but the incident is considered an accident, according to Farniok.

Seven dead in shooting of Sikh temple

A gunman killed six and wounded three at a Sikh temple in a Wisconsin suburb Sunday, according to Reuters.

The gunman was described by witnesses as a white man, who entered the Sikh temple through the kitchen, where women were preparing food. Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards said the Federal Bureau of Investigations is overseeing the probe into shootings.

The New York Times reports the shooting ended after the gunman shot a police officer several times, then was shot and killed by another officer in the parking lot.

The three wounded victims were admitted to Froedtert Hospital and are being treated for a shot to the head, one to the abdomen and one for neck injuries, said Nalissa Wienke, hospital spokeswoman.

Egyptian soldiers killed in Sanai

The Associated Press reports 16 Egyptian soldiers were killed Sunday on the border between Gaza and Israel by masked gunmen, officials said. The gunmen drove off into Israel.

The attack took place during the troops' traditional meal at the end of the day during Ramadan. According to Egyptian state TV, the attack was by Islamist militants.

The Israeli military said one of the two vehicles the attackers drove away in blew up.

Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in a statement that Israel's military and the internal security agency "thwarted an attack that could have injured many. The militants' attack methods again raise the need for determined Egyptian action to enforce security and prevent terror in the Sinai."

According to Businessweek, U.S. official warned the increasing strength of radical Islamic groups in the Sinai Peninsula in the past year after the removal of Egypt's president, Hosni Mubarak.
