Milan Egrmajer, 58, and his daughter Myda Egrmajer, 24, had been cruising the Caribbean Sea when they took shelter in a lagoon near Tela because of bad weather.

Pirates boarded the ship and shot Milan four times while Myda hid, the Canada National Post reported.

Myda was able to scare off the pirates with a shot of a flare gun, her cousin, Eric van Riesen told the National Post.

Amanda Jean Thomas, 29, her 12-year-old son, and 3-month-old son were killed by Rufus Onel Victor, 29, who tried fleeing from police on foot from the crash scene, the Star Tribune reports.

Fox 9 reports Victor went through a red light at 2nd St. N. and W. Broadway Ave. and crashed into two vehicles. Lt. Eric Roeske, spokesperson for the MSP, told Fox the crash happened far ahead of the state trooper.

State police caught Victor and he is now being held in Hennepin County Jail without bail.

Becky Dass, 23, was hit after she left work at Kahler Grand Hotel in Rochester by 32-year-old Christopher Trautman. Trautman admitted he was drunk when he hit four people, KSTP reported. The four injured were in two separate accidents.

Trautman didn't stop and help Dass when she flew the windshield of her vehicle.

"I flew over the car and hit the ground," Dass told KSTP. "I was spitting glass out and screaming for help."

Dass suffered a broken leg and torn ACL, but is now on the road to recovery with a smile on her face.

The Associate Press reports Trautman, of Orono, faces 14 charges for injuring four and killing one. Trautman had a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 when he hit the victims.

Mohamed Osman Mohamud, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Somalia, had been watched for months as his alleged bomb threat was developing.

The Pioneer Press reports the FBI said Mohamud had previously said he wanted to kill Americans.

Mohamud will be charged Monday in Portland's federal court. Mohamud could face a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine if he is guilty, the Portland Tribune reports.

According to the Ramsey County medical examiner's office, the woman died of freshwater drowning. Chief Investigator Don Gorrie said the manner of the drowning has not been determined.

Police said an employee of St. Paul Yacht Club noticed the woman's body Oct. 14 in branches, the Associated Press reported.

The woman is described as a likely African American with short hair, age 16-40, 5 feet and 11 inches tall, and about 170 pounds.

Clara Laird was found dead in her bed after being shot to death.

Seal Beach police Sgt. Steve Bowles said they found Laird with a single gunshot wound to the head. Roy Charles Laird was found sitting in a chair with a revolver in his pocket.

Roy Charles Laird was arrested at the scene, and he did not resist custody, ABC Orange County reported.
