Times they are a-changing. Are we a-changing at the same pace as the times though? All levels of the government, nonprofit, academic, and philanthropic worlds are feeling the pressure of the current economic meltdown. Many are wondering how to respond to this crisis in the most efficient manner while still carrying out their mission. Enter innovation.
We all know that innovation has been around for a long time, I would personally venture to say forever. Sometimes though, we get a little comfortable with the ways in which things are rolling right along. Progressing as usual, status quo, nothing shaking up the system. If it ain't broke, don't fix it right? Now seems the perfect opportunity to try out those new ideas you have been batting around for a while. Perhaps it is a revamped design of a longstanding project. Or a new way to lead a meeting. Maybe a program your organization has always wanted to start. For those willing to experiment with something new, the time is ripe. If you need inspiration, check out the Local Government Innovation Awards on April 13th from 3-5pm in the Cowles Auditorium at the Humphrey Institute. Then go forth and innovate, you just may find yourself getting recognized for you innovative achievements next year.
The possibilities are really endless...that's the beauty of innovation after all!
