We are delighted to announce that our own John Bryson has received the 2011 Dwight Waldo Award from The American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). This award is "presented to persons who have made outstanding contributions to the professional literature of public administration over an extended career." ASPA is the leading professional organization of academics and practitioners in the field.
This award recognizes John's 34 years of scholarship, including 12 books and over 100 journal articles and book chapters. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and has also received the Distinguished Research Award from ASPA and the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) (2006) and the Charles H. Levine Award for Excellence in Public Administration from ASPA and NASPAA (2008).
His book, Strategic Planning for Public and Nonprofit Organizations, 3rd Ed. (Jossey-Bass, 2004) is standard reading for public and nonprofit leaders and managers, as his book (co-authored with Barbara Crosby, Leadership for the Common Good, 2nd Ed. (Jossey-Bass, 2005).
