Congressional Quarterly Prize

Congratulations to Kathryn Pearson for winning (with co-author Eric Schickler) the CQ Prize for the best paper in the Legislative Studies Section of the 2007 APSA annual meeting for "Discharge Petitions: Circumventing Congressional Norms from 1929-1974."

University of Minnesota Graduate School Best Dissertation Award

Congratulations to Angie Bos for winning the University of Minnesota Graduate School's Award for Best Dissertation in the Social & Behavioral Sciences & Education, for her dissertation "Stereotypes at the Gate? Gender Stereotypes and Candidate Nomination Rules."

International Society of Political Psychology Best Dissertation Award

Congratulations to Alina Oxendine for winning the Best Dissertation Award from the International Society of Political Psychology for her dissertation, "Inequality and Isolation."

Herbert Jacob Prize

Congratulations to Lisa Hilbink, co-winner of the Herbert Jacob Prize for her book, "Judges Beyond Politics in Dictatorship and Democracy." The Jacob Prize is awarded biennially by the Law and Society Association for "new, outstanding work in law and society scholarship."

President's Award for Outstanding Service

Congratulations to Martin Sampson for winning a 2008 President's Award for Outstanding Service. This award is presented each year in the spring and recognizes exceptional service to the University, its schools, colleges, departments, and service units by any active or retired faculty or staff member. Recipients of this award have gone well beyond their regular duties and have demonstrated an unusual commitment to the University community.

Udall Native American Congressional Internship

Congratulations to Political Science Honors student Hanna Lussier for being awarded a 2008 Udall Native American Congressional Internship by the Morris K. Udall Foundation. She is one of 12 students nationwide chosen to receive this fully supported, highly competitive Washington, D.C. summer internship. Full story
