Acclaimed Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera died Saturday night when her plane crashed killing everyone on board, reports the MSNBC.

Rivera was on her way to Toluca, Mexico with four other passengers and two pilots when the Learjet 25 plane went off the radar about 62 miles south of Monterrey, reports MSNBC.

Three of the missing passengers are Rivera's publicist, make-up artist and lawyer, according to MSNBC. It has not been confirmed whether they died in the crash.

The wreckage was found in a mountainous area Sunday night in northeastern Mexico, according to the New York Times.

Investigators say the cause of the crash is still unknown, reports the New York Times.

Rivera was best known by her American and Mexican fans as the "diva of banda," a genre of music normally dominated by male singers, according to MSNBC and the New York Times.
