The future of learning and student services

Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of the new Science Teaching and Student Services (STSS) building on the Twin Cities campus. This magnificent new facility, which occupies the site of the former science classroom building, is changing the face of teaching, learning, and student services at the University of Minnesota.

For more information about STSS, as well as three short videos explaining the vision behind this exciting new facility, visit the STSS dedication page at UMNews. And if you're just returning to the Twin Cities campus, be sure to stop by. You won't be disappointed!

Join Us Aug. 24 for the STSS Grand Opening

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

This month marks the opening of the new Science Teaching and Student Services building (STSS) overlooking the Mississippi River on the east bank of the Twin Cities campus. Designed by renowned architect and University of Minnesota alumnus Bill Pedersen, this magnificent facility helps to reestablish the University's historical connection to the river and offers a strong complement to the iconic Weisman Art Museum. More importantly, it demonstrates our commitment to undergraduate science, engineering, and mathematics education and will serve as a hub of activity for thousands of students this fall alone!

To celebrate the official opening of STSS, I invite you to join University and student leaders for a ribbon cutting and refreshments Tuesday, August 24, at 3 p.m. Following a brief ceremony, you are welcome to tour the new facility and see the future of student services and state-of-the-art active learning classrooms. I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
