Observations
Here are few of the sites we've visited and the sights we've observed as we traveled in and around Beijing, Jinan, and Qufu.
There are many changes taking place in China including construction, cleaning, and planting everywhere. Old buildings continue to be removed to make way for new highrises and gleaming office buildings. Green mesh coverings on buildings and picturesqe fences hide construction that is yet to be completed for the Olympics.
08/08/08--the day the Olympic Games begin-- symbolizes much for China. The number eight has long been a symbol of good luck for the Chinese people and perhaps hosting the Olympics will result in further changes throughout China.
For now there is a great deal of the old mixed in with the new. It is clear some areas of China await the dramatic changes experienced by some residents in the larger cities of China.
