POSITION TITLE: Clinical Psychologist
REPORTS TO: Director of Outpatient & Outreach Services
DIVISION: Outpatient Center
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Psychologist is responsible for providing Outpatient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and crisis intervention. Participates as a member of the autism team in assessment and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders. Provides consultation services to Children's Care Hospital and School and Outreach School contracts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
*Provide outpatient clinical treatment, therapy, and support services to children, youth, adults and their families.
*Conduct individual, family, or group therapy sessions in accordance with accepted principles of the South Dakota Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
*Assess progress of clients/patients and modifies or extends treatment programs accordingly.
*Works closely with the autism team in the assessment and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders.
*Administer, interpret, and communicate findings of various psychological assessment instruments, if applicable.
*Communicate with family members/treatment staff in order to further the effectiveness of client/patient treatment and progress.
*Coordinates client/patient billing and modify treatment program in accordance with insurance coverage, plan provisions, and individual ability to pay.
*Provide educational programs on a variety of psychological topics to hospital/community groups as requested.
*Provide consultation services across Children's Care Program areas as requested.
*Participates in program development to meet identified needs of children and families; serves as an active participant in clinical teams.
*Maintains accurate and concise records. Maintains productive use of time.

Required Skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology and a South Dakota Psychology Licensure. In addition, at least 3 years of experience in pediatrics.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Requires a full range of body motion including the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, reach, push and pull when responding to student challenging behaviors, eye/hand coordination, and the ability to lift students weighing 35 pounds, using proper body mechanics. Requires repetitive movements of the wrists, hand and/or fingers, the ability to receive and express detailed information through oral communication, visual acuity, and the ability to read and understand written directions.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in residential patient and classroom student environment. This position has personal contact with children, nursing staff and education personnel.
This position has been evaluated as a Level I in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA definition of Occupational Exposure to blood borne pathogens).
