Dear Psychology Colleagues,
I recently learned from Andrew Oxenham that our auditory researchers
are participating in an exciting international exchange program. This
program brings distinction and international collaboration to our
Department. Read below.

Andrew writes:
Back in the spring, I was part of an application to
Erasmus Mundi - a European Union funded initiative to foster
collaboration and exchange between the EU and North America. We found
out recently that our application was approved - in fact it was the only
funded application this year, and our Minnesota group is one of only two
in the US to be part of this project in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience.
More details are given at: www.uni-leipzig.de/~acn
I'm looking forward to being able to use this opportunity to send some
of my students to other labs, and welcome visiting students for extended
periods.
Cheers,
Andrew

Dear Psychology Colleagues,
Here is good news about Rich Lee. He has been elected as the next president of the Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA). He will serve as
president-elect from 2010-2011, and then his presidential term will run from 2011-2013.
AAPA was founded in 1972 and is the largest organization of faculty, students, researchers, and practitioners interested in Asian American psychology.
The election represents the high regard in which Rich is held nationally, and is an important leadership position.
Congratulations Rich!

Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to be able to inform you that Bill Iacono has been appointed as a Regents Professor, the highest recognition given by the University of Minnesota to a member of the faculty. Bill continues our Department's distinguished tradition of Regents Professor appointments, joining Paul Meehl (appointed in 1968), Ellen Berscheid (1988), and Matt McGue (2007). Please join me in congratulating Bill on this wonderful, well-deserved honor.
