         <title>Open-Rank Faculty Position in Behavior Genetics</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is conducting a major hiring initiative aimed at strengthening its position as one of the world’s major departments. As part of this initiative, the Department is searching for a <strong>Behavioral Geneticist</strong> to join its graduate training program in Personality, Individual Differences, and Behavioral Genetics. This is an open-rank faculty search, which will be filled at either the tenure-track assistant professor level or at the tenured associate or full professor level depending on qualifications. Tenured appointments will involve a joint hire through Psychology and the University of Minnesota’s Translational Neuroscience Scholars program. The latter is part of a university-wide effort to build strength in basic and applied neuroscience, including genetic approaches to behavioral disorders.</p>

<p>Candidates must have completed the requirements for the Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field by the appointment start date.  Essential qualifications are demonstrated scholarly excellence and a well-planned program of research. In addition, for tenured hires, history of external funding and visibility of research program will also be considered. The overall quality of the candidate’s research contributions is more important than specific area within behavioral genetics. Excellence in teaching is strongly desired. </p>

<p>Successful applicants will be expected to carry on an active research program and contribute to the research and training of graduate students. Senior hires will also be expected to contribute to the University’s mission in translational neuroscience. Teaching responsibilities will consist of graduate and undergraduate courses as well as seminars in special areas of interest. Successful applicants also will be expected to contribute to the service needs of the Department, College and University. Outstanding colleagues and all the resources of a major research and graduate training department will be available to support each faculty member’s work.</p>

<p>The University of Minnesota has a long and illustrious history of contributions to behavioral genetics research. There is a large and collaborative group of faculty and research staff in the Department of Psychology interested in behavioral genetic research and the Department houses both the Minnesota Center for Twin and Family Research and the Minnesota Study of Twins Reared Apart.  Program faculty are affiliated with the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Human Genetics and the University of Minnesota offers excellent genotyping, imaging, and computing research facilities. </p>

<p>The earliest beginning date for these full-time, nine-month academic year faculty positions is Fall Semester, 2009.  Later start dates may also be arranged. Salary is competitive and will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience and the rank of the appointment.</p>

         <title>Faculty Positions in Industrial and Organizational Psychology  and The Marvin D. Dunnette Distinguished Chair in Industrial and Organizational Psychology</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is conducting a major hiring initiative aimed at strengthening its position as one of the world’s major departments. As part of this initiative, the Department is seeking to fill up to two tenure-track faculty positions in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.  One position is the<strong> Marvin D. Dunnette Distinguished Chair in Industrial and Organizational Psychology</strong>, a tenure-track position in <strong>Industrial and Organizational Psychology</strong> at the rank of assistant professor. Preference will be given to candidates with several years of experience at this rank, with commensurate evidence of an emerging program of research. Highly qualified applicants without such experience will also be considered.  </p>

<p>Applications are also being sought for a possible second tenure-track position in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, also at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants with or without experience at this rank are encouraged to apply.</p>

<p>The research emphasis of applicants for the Dunnette Chair should be on the psychology of individual differences as it impacts effective organizational behavior. For both positions we are particularly interested in candidates who will complement the expertise of current I/O faculty and broaden the program’s coverage of various subfields within I/O psychology (e.g., leadership, work motivation, attitudes and values, training and development, decision making).          <title>Assistant Professor in Multicultural Psychology</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is conducting a major hiring initiative aimed at strengthening its position as one of the world’s major departments. As part of this initiative, the Department is seeking to recruit a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in basic and applied research on <strong>Cultural Diversity and Multicultural Psychology</strong>. We are seeking someone who will contribute to the Department’s priority interest in culture and diversity, and who will enhance our undergraduate and graduate curriculum. </p>

<p>Candidates must have completed the requirements for the Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field by the appointment start date. Essential qualifications include demonstrated scholarly excellence and a well-planned program of research in multicultural or cultural diversity. Specific research areas of interest include: racial and ethnic disparities in physical and mental health; identity, discrimination and intergroup conflict; the development and validation of innovative culture-specific treatments and interventions; individual, family, and organizational models of diversity and development; and the complex and nuanced interactions among culture, race, biology, and cognition on human functioning. Scholars whose research also intersects with other aspects of diversity (e.g., gender, ability, class, sexual orientation) are strongly encouraged to apply as are those who are strongly committed to conducting research that engages our nation’s diversity and/or the increasingly diverse Twin Cities community. Experience and excellence in teaching are strongly desired.</p>

<p>We are particularly interested in scholars who could contribute to our Counseling Psychology and/or Social Psychology programs or one or more of the Department’s five other graduate training programs (Clinical; Cognitive and Biological; Industrial and Organization; Personality, Individual Differences and Behavior Genetics; and Quantitative Methods). Collaborations across areas of psychology and with colleagues in related disciplines (e.g., Child Development, Ethnic Studies, Education, Anthropology, Sociology, Global Studies) are also desired.</p>

         <title>Open-Rank Faculty Position in Clinical Psychology</title>

The Department is currently seeking to recruit an extraordinary researcher and scholar who would contribute to its graduate program in <strong>Clinical Science and Psychopathology Research</strong> (clinical psychology). This is an open-rank faculty search, which will be filled at either the tenure-track assistant professor level or at the tenured associate or full professor level depending on qualifications.</p>

<p>Candidates must have completed the requirements for the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology by the appointment start date. Essential qualifications are demonstrated scholarly excellence and a well-planned program of psychopathology research. Preference will be given to individuals whose area of research complements existing program expertise in personality and psychopathology, brain imaging, developmental neuropsychology, behavior genetics, and quantitative methods.          <title>Temporary Teaching Positions in the Department of Psychology</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>(9903) Instructional (Non-Faculty) Teaching Series</p>

<p>The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota occasionally needs Teaching Specialists or Lecturers to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students.  The courses would primarily be introductory or survey courses, but may include graduate courses.  The positions are temporary and part-time.  This search establishes a "pool" of instructor candidates.  Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis through the academic year.  Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.  Teaching specialists and lecturers will be expected to teach undergraduate or graduate students in assigned course(s), hold office hours to assist and advise students, and participate in relevant departmental meetings.</p>

<p>Required Qualifications - Master's Degree in Psychology or closely related field. At least one year of post-baccalaureate teaching experience in introductory, research methods, cognitive, biological, personality, social, clinical, counseling or industrial/organizational psychology or a related field. For graduate courses, clinical or professional experience may in some cases be substituted for teaching experience. Candidates with M.A. will be hired as "Teaching Specialists". </p>

<p>Preferred Qualifications - Ph.D. in Psychology or related field. At least two years of post-baccalaureate teaching experience in introductory, research methods, cognitive, biological, personality, social, clinical, counseling or industrial/organizational psychology or a related field. Applicants selected to teach graduate level course must also have instructional or clinical experience relevant to those specialty areas. Candidates with Ph.D. will be hired as Lecturers.</p>

<p>(9902) Term Faculty Series</p>

<p>The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota occasionally needs term (non-tenure track) faculty to fill in for regular faculty who may be on leave. Term faculty appointments include visiting, contract, adjunct or temporary appointments. <br />
Term faculty will be expected to teach introductory and/or upper division undergraduate courses and/or graduate level courses, hold office hours and advise students, engage in an active program of scholarly research, and perform service and outreach appropriate for the rank of appointment.  </p>

<p>Required Qualifications  - Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Psychology or a closely related field and three years of teaching experience in a college or university. </p>

<p>Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated excellence in teaching; distinguished program of research.  </p>

         <title>VA Medical Center Research Assistant Posting for U of MN Department of Psychology</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>A full-time 9-month research assistant position is available at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis to work with Dr. Hildi Hagedorn collecting data for a project testing the effect of providing monetary incentives for negative breath and urine screens on drug and alcohol treatment outcomes. The research assistant would be responsible for participant recruitment, research assessments and conducting the intervention. During the 8-week intervention, participants attend bi-weekly appointments at which they submit breath and urine samples and earn monetary rewards based on the testing results.</p>

<p>Candidates must have a BA/BS degree in psychology or health sciences.  Compensation is approximately $18.60/hour.  </p>
