When lady Gaga first took the stage most people were shocked by creative touch to her shows. She has became famous for her lyrics and wardrobe but is she also becoming famous in the world of contemporary feminism? This article brings to attention that she is indeed bringing up issues to the public and bluntly stating her views on subjects that are most definitely related to feminism. It was without a doubt for instance that she shocked the world when she appeared to an award show wearing nothing but meat as her dress. She was criticized for doing so, but initially people were not aware of her actual point behind wearing the meat dress. I was one of those people and I actually did not see her interview with Elen Degeneres where she explains the statement she was trying to make about homosexuality discrimination. Therefore, it was not till reading this article that I knew... however obviously the meat dress has not been even close to the only thing this woman has done that pertains to the feminist movement. Her lyrics, statements, and other specific outfits are all representing feminism. The question is though, is it always in a positive way?? I like how the article stirs up the point of lady Gaga being so asexual and how she may be making a statement that in order to be a female icon one needs to be attractive and display themselves in similar ways as she does.

I think you bring up some great points. I agree that Lady Gaga may not have done a great job getting her particular point across. I appreciate that she is using her stardom in mostly a positive light. She has started a foundation for GLBT kids, and has brought up the idea of feminism to young children, even if it some cases it is indirect.

I think lady gaga is a feminist. To me a feminist is someone who stands up for equality and I think gaga does that. She started her own GLBT organization and her own Anti- Bullying organization. She has also made statements saying "I don't know what gender, sex or sexuality you are and I don't care" I think a lot of young people look up to her and if you do a little research on why some of her outfits are so crazy they usually have a meaning behind them. I do agree that maybe she needs to be more direct in her statements but maybe she wants her projects, lyrics, and clothes to speak for themselves.

I enjoy how open lady Gaga is; I think that even when she is over the top and says things very bluntly at least she isn’t hiding from the truth. I want to focuses on the statement she made about the meat dress she wore.
“Wanting to be seen as more than a piece of meat.”- This statement caught my eye because I feel as feminist we don’t get seems, as we deserve or looked a as normal humans. But truly we are just like anyone else and want to be respected for that. This statement also connected to our slut walk discussion and how women are preserved in our society for how they act or what they were and this makes it “ok” to be assaulted for it. (WE ARE NOT A PIECE OF MEAT)
The best part about Lady Gaga is that she isn’t afraid to be weird or out there she knows who she is and what she wants. As we can all see she is very out there but in the end she is heard and people keep wanting more.

Lady gaga is definitely an icon in today's society. I think she has done a lot of great things especially pertaining to the GLBT community. She is definitely an individual who is ready to stand up for what she believes is right and I think that definitely makes her a feminist. One thing I would question is her music videos. They are meant to push the envelope and they certainly do, but maybe too much? They are often very sexualized and risque, is this the kind of message she really wants to send?

I agree with your opinion that Lady gaga is a feminist. She is one of the most influential icons in this world. And she always stand for peace, right for women. She is not afraid to express herself and her own opinions. I think she is brave and definitely a feminist.
