Something of Interest

I'm putting this under Queer This! because I'm not sure where else it belongs. Maybe I'm wrong or confused but I am thinking the Queer This! is like an OH Bother! or WTF! entry but this is not that. Rather just something I found interesting and somewhat applicable to the class.
A girlfriend of mine who works for a public relations and advocacy agency in New York called Represent had sent me a link to her company's blog so I could check out some work she's been doing and when I clicked on the tag word "Gender" this blog about a new film called "Straightlaced" was there.
So check it out. Just thought it was interesting and I welcome any comments on it, maybe someone has already seen it or heard of it.
Additionally, the film is by a non-profit called Groundspark and I also went to there site and watched the trailer for another film called "It's Elementary" that I found interesting as well.
See what ya think. I am personally intrigued and wish there was greater access to films like these.

I think that your post fits very well with my vision of "queer this!" posts. Here is what I wrote about their purpose earlier this month:

" I thought we could post images, news items or anything else that you feel speaks to issues related to queering theory and/or our readings and class discussion. It could also include anything that you believe especially deserves a queer analysis."

These posts aren't "oh bother" or WTF posts, but instead are meant to be posts that invite others to engage in queer analysis or the queering of the item. Or, they could simply be posts that raise issues that are relevant to queering theory and/or queer communities. Does that help clarify the category? I am planning to write up a more detailed explanation of the categories this morning. I will post it under the about section (located at the top on the right hand side).

Thanks for posting this link. These films look great. The U has "It's Elementary"--I will check it out. Maybe we could screen part of it in class...

Straighlaced is also scheduled to have its Minneapolis premiere on November 12th. I'll post details as soon as I have them!
