So, here is the real info on the film Moolaade that I mentioned in class today. It was made by a Senegalese filmmaker, Ousmane Sembene, in 2004. It takes place in a small Burkina Faso village. The word "Moolaade" refers to the protective order placed on the girls in the village who are to undergo circumcision, imposed by an older woman of the village. (it's all coming back now....) Anyway, this link has a short summary of the film and an interview with the filmmaker, Sembene.
