What's Sex Got to Do with News?

I seem to compulsively check cnn.com whenever I log on to a computer. I think at this point it is just habbit. It seems that whenever I visit this site there is always at least one headline regarding sex as an issue of health or crime. While some of the articles bring attention to important issues it seems that most are designed as repetitive propoganda pieces that don't really address any issues, but stake their appeal soley on the fact that their subject is sex. I want to know why news corporations give these types of stories top priority when it comes to reporting. Is sex so sacred and necessary in our culture that we must be constantly alerted to its presence? What is so compelling about the details of the most recent sex crime or new findings regarding the secret to a better sex life? Personally I am getting bored with the subject. For an example click here.
