I came across this advertisement for bread the other day. I found it very interesting. I think it's like the "got milk" campaigns trying to boost grain sales. I find it interesting that our "sex sells" society even webs itself into selling food. Obviously in the ad they placed the bread in the form of a penis, which I have no idea what this sexual expression does to help sell bread. But any ways in terms of advertising it definitely grabbed my attention and got us talking about it. I kinda took it that bread is essential to our lives just like a penis is essential for humanity and reproduction. I also think this ad plays on the idea of male dominance over women in society. The ad is almost saying the penis and bread are essential to life but no reference to the importance of women. I just find it an interesting expression to take when selling something as simple as bread. What do you think? Does this ad do a good job regarding the sale of bread? Also what else does this add express relating to sex when looking further at the ad?

This is a very interesting advertisement. This advertisement takes the expression "sex sells" to a new extreme. The bread alone is definitely screaming for the consumer to look at it, which it definitely accomplishes. But other than achieving attention I do not understand what the market sales people were trying to achieve with this article. The expression "Bread is life" could be a play on reproduction, another heterosexual norm they expect the consumer to know.

I don't know about you, but this advertisement does not make me want to eat bread and does a horrible job making it look attractive. I cannot believe an advertisement like this exists, and it's quite disgusting. Where did you find this advertisement?

I was searching for a blog to comment on and this photo was up as my mother walked by. She instantly asked what I was looking at and started to freak. Well after I explain what she is really looking at and that is just an add she got embarrassed. So yes I think it does an excellent job selling sex... but not so much bread. I find the add gross and I'm not sure I want to eat a sandwich for awhile. The quote " Bread is life" can read a few different ways: one is homosexuality, and second is bread is natural and you need it as much as sex or even a step further needing love. I also would like to know where this advertisement came from.

This ad reminds me of an ad that I wrote about on my blog last year. Where did you find the ad--in a magazine? On the web?

This ad makes me sick! I feel disgusted when I first look at the ad. I mean really? Bread=Dick? It really has the "sex sells" idea, and has bee moved to a whole new level. And with the words "Bread is Life", the advertiser has made an assumption on the consumer, that is the heterosexual norm that the advertiser expectes the consumer to know about. And for me, as a male, I will never want to eat that bread, just because it looks disgust and horrible. And I would agree with you that bread is essential to our life just as penis to sex; however this does not make this ad any successful. I would never want my future children see this on TV. The media is now teaching all the norms to the consumers and the fact they should obey. But what about all the children? They all know little or nothing in this area! This is harmful to the children! Anyway, this is such a horrible ad!
