Extra Credits: What's Sex Got to Do with...this Touching Pantene Commercial?

Many of my friends have suggested me to watching this Pantene TV commercial. They say it is such a touching an encouraging commercial. After I watch this, I DO agree with my friends that there is without any doubt that this commercial is touching and encouraging! But I have to say that sex still sells in this commercial.
What are Pantene's target consumers? Clearly, they are women. You barely see a man using Pantene shampoo. And why the two performers are females? If they were males, would so many people find it to be touching? Clearly, No.
The disabled girl was not the "perfect" model that media often creates, but she was a model for all girls due to his courage to success in life. Moreover, if the girl is not considered as a model, why is she displayed as a powerful and beautiful girl?
At the end of this commercial, "You can shine" appears on screen. Does it imply that girls with shinny hair will success and those without it will fail?
It is obviously that sex is a hidden message in this kind of commercial. Most people's reaction to this commercial will be touched and encouraged, but after watching it many times, the sex message will appear in mind.
Now, what do you think? Am I wrong about this?
