Sunday 11/25/2007

Only four searches today and I found two of them. There's lots of shelving to do, especially on 2nd floor. Mark and I shelved on 3rd floor because there were old trucks there. We actually had quite a bit of pick-up to do, I was surprised. I thought because of the break there wouldn't be as much, but that wasn't the case. I also showed Mark how to clean the computers. Thats all!

There were no searches today so I moved trucks and shelved instead. Also, there were notes on East Asian and the Map library saying that they were going to be closed on 11/24, but there was no such note in Ames, so I only opened Ames and the Annex.

Hello,
Today there were four searches and I found two of them. Pick-up took a little longer than usual because I had to show Serena how to do it. It also took longer because there was pick-up left from Saturday on the 2nd and 3rd floor trucks. The one for 3rd floor had at least 20 books on it; so I had to shelve those in addition to pick-up. This is the first time that has happened, so I'm not sure if someone new was working on Saturday or if someone just forgot that we're not leaving pick-up for the next shift anymore. Other than that, theres a few trucks on each floor. For the last hour, I shelved an old truck on 3rd floor and then shelved on 2nd with Serena.

There were only two searches and I found both of them. After that, with the remaining time in the hour, I processed Annex returns. I was unsure how to denote that on the schedule, so I just wrote in annex returns.

I was 2 for 6 on the searches today. Nothing much else of interest happened.

Hello,
I had six searches today and I found four of them. Yay! I followed the shelving of older trucks rule, so we mostly shelved trucks from 4th and 3rd floor that were from Friday. A couple other things of importance...

1. A shelfreading TA is desperately needed in the section PJ6101-PJ6122, it's very out of order.
2. Some one wrote on the third floor white board in what appeared to be non-dry erase marker. I won't repeat what it said, but it was to the same tune as those aisle labels I brought down a couple weekends ago. The marker washed off though, so I got rid of it. Also, the blue dry erase marker is no longer there, not sure if some one took it or what. I will try to find a new one in the office.
3. In the computer cleaning bin, a majority of the U of M Libraries guides are from Summer 2006. There are some from 2007-2008, but we need more. Is this a big concern? I guess I don't know how much information is different. Also, I've seen quite a few of the Summer ones upstairs and also ones from 2006-2007. Should we be removing those?

Other than that we had a quiet day. Let me know about my questions, thanks!

Today I was 4 for 8 on searches. There was some sort of a fire alarm at 4 o'clock, so the building was evacuated for about a half hour. Other than that, pretty routine day.
