Experience in the Workplace

I obtained a position at the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Stillwater prison. I was treated fairly by the employers initially, but one month into the position I was terminated for something that an informant told the investigation unit.

The informant told the investigation department that my cousin name and said that I obtained a position as a correctional officer as a gang member and to commit an on going crime. I believe that the matter was not investigated because of my race. I was also told that I did not disclose the fact that my cousin was incarcerated in another prison, which was proven incorrect, because I gave the investigator a signed form stating that my cousin was incarcerated. I believed that if I was another race my word would have been taken over a convicted murderer. I also believe that the union would have fought for me if my race was different, but because of my race I was terminated under false allegations. I planned to stay at the Department of Correction for a while but I was not given that chance and no helped me after the situation occurred. I contacted the NAACP, the Push Collision, Congress, and every attorney within the yellow pages for which everyone told me the same thing "sorry but we can't help you".
This is one of my workplace injustices.
