Violence Against Women

There is a great connection between domestic violence and the violence of war.

According to the Beijing Platform For Action violence against women is “any act of gender-biased violence that results in[…], physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women[…], whether occurring in pubic or private life. Therefore no matter where an act takes place, if it meets the above criteria than it is violence. There is a great connection between domestic violence and the violence of war. Both situation typically include a male in the role of an authority, being it just the “man of the house, an official, or an armed force. For women are generally quite susceptible to men of authority. It is not uncommon for these acts of violence in homes, prisons and/or war fronts to be tolerated. According to the Platform there is a great lack of documentation and research on these two types of violence. In terms of the relationship between gender and violence, women are much more vulnerable to the men placed in authoritative positions. Taken as a whole, society’s gender bias views are what lead men to these levels of authority.
