Library Wikis

Because of the highly technical content, I was surprised that the LEO homepage was a wiki. However, I understood why when I looked at the UM Libraries Staff Wiki, where it is stated "staff input is cruicial to this site's evolution." So libraries could find wikis useful in the development of subject guides, reading lists, locating materials for ILL, sharing information regarding conventions, etc. It is a good way for professionals to collaborate, but there are also problems that have to be dealt with as shown by the message on the Library Success wiki: "Because of vandalism problems, email configuration is required."
