Christine Swanson was born on July 1, 1971 in Detroit, Michigan. She attended the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she received her MFA. At her school she was a Willard T.C. Johnson Fellow, which is the “most prestigious fellowship given to the student who has achieved high standards in his or her work� (IMDB.com) Along with graduating from Tisch, she graduated with a degree in Film Theory and Japenese from the University of Notre Dame. She has developed, written and directed various movie projects. She is married to Michael Swanson, and CNN featured the pair as the raising duo to watch in the film industry. I found Christine Swanson’s name on the “Sisters in Cinema� website. I had actually heard of her before, but was not familiar with her work. There was actually attainable information on her, compared to other women of color filmmakers which I could not even find a bibliography.
