Okay, so some of these movies, I really do enjoy. Which I'll explain a little about each; however, some of these movies (one in particular) I cannot stand. Anyway, here is my list of movies:
Gladiator- I'm fascinated by ancient Roman culture. Hollywood doesn't do a bad job in depicting it in this film.
Troy- A film "depicting" ancient Greece. I really like the movie, except for the fact that the plot does not accurately follow the history of the Trojan War. I'm pretty sure that Agemenmon is killed by Helen's sister, not by Persaus - who definitely didn't have a love affair with Achilles. Oh, and Paris, he actually dies, but who could kill Orlando Bloom right?
To Kill A Mockingbird- This is a classic, American novel. The book was amazing. At first, I was skeptical of the movie, simply because most movies from books are a let down (at least in my opinion). Yet, I think the motion picture helps the audience or even reader better understand all of the themes that Harper Lee tried to convey in the novel.
Anchorman- Who doesn't love Will Farrell? Honestly now, from the "I Love Lamp" comments to watching Jack Black punt Ron Burgandy's dog, Baxter, off a bridge. Although there is really no educational value, a little bit of laughter never killed anyone.
Elf- As you can tell, I'm a Will Farrell fan. He is wearing an elf costume, plus it's a Christmas movie you can watch even when it's not Christmas time. Everybody loves the holiday season.
Mary Poppins- An old school Disney classic. I don't know about everyone else, but if I had a babysitter that took me on sidewalk painting adventures, gave me good-tasting cough syrup, and made cleaning my room fun, life would have been great. Oh plus, Julie Andrews, she is pretty cool.
Pearl Harbor- I am a fan of Josh Hartnett, but that is not the only reason why I enjoyed the movie. I'm a small fan of the World War II movies (like Saving Private Ryan and others). Of course, once again Hollywood has changed the true story but I guess the objective of Hollywood film producers is to make a profit, not tell history accurately.
Top Gun- An older, pre-psychotic Tom Cruise film. Anthony Edwards and Val Kilmer, of course add to the excitement of the film, but I personally enjoy the theme of the movie. It would be nice to fly million dollar fighter planes. I don't think I'd actually like to fight in combat, but the training parts would be interesting.
Boondock Saints- A very violent film, yes. However, it was quite interesting the approach of this film. Instead of bad guys killing innocent people, it was "good guys" cleaning the city of Boston of all of the bad people. So, it is a little less depressing than the real news we watch, but still the film captures its key target audience with adult language and content. Not a bad idea, if I may say so.
Finally, we come to From Justin to Kelly- I would like to say that I don't like this movie. There is no plot. (You can see this at the official website for the movie, which there is a link below.) If I have to listen to Justin Guarini sing anymore, I might sue the producers of the film. Don't get me wrong, I like Kelly Clarkson, but acting isn't really her forté. Anyway, all last summer (2005) this movie was constantly played on HBO. For some odd reason, I turned on the TV, and would continue to watch it. I don't think I ever saw the full thing, but enough for my taste. So basically this movie is on my list because for some odd reason, it was probably one of the most watched movies by me. Sad, I know.
