Indeed you can. I should know, I've worked there.
Please take production courses before attempting this. You are not allowed to check out space or equipment if you have not. I reccommend taking TH4550 "Video Technology." It is bar-none the best production class on campus. You will be able to walk on to any set and work any number of positions after this class.
