Tips for writing outlines:
-Put away the reading, and then try to summarize it without looking!
-Brainstorm ideas in a Word document, and then you can go through and add transitions, quotes, explain ideas, etc.
Sample Outline
I. Introduction
A. Summarize the article (Title, Author, main point - not very detailed!)
B. Thesis (try writing out the whole sentence)
II. Main Point #1
A. Support
1.Quotes
2. Experience/explanation
III. Main Point #2
A. Support
1. Quotes
2. Experience/explanation
IV. Main Point #3
A. Support
1. Quotes
2.Experience/explanation
(Other Main Points, if you have more than 3)
V. Conclusion
A. Re-State Thesis - sell it!!
B. Summarize main points - BUT NO NEW INFO!!!!!!
Reminder: Draft 1 of Paper 3 Due Wednesday, at the start of class. Bring 3 copies - one for Adam, and two for your peer review!
