"Joe the plumber" a farce
Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, 34, has never been a licensed plumber, reported the New York Times, which is required in Toledo, Ohio, and several other municipalities.
Even more ironic, “Joe the plumber owes $1,200 in back taxes, reported the BBC.
Wurzelbacher had approached presidential candidate Barack Obama as he was campaigning, questioning the Democrat on his proposed tax plans that would see him taxed more if the company he wished to purchase would earn more than $250,000 a year, reported the BBC.
According to the BBC, Republican presidential candidate John McCain had used Wurzelbacher as the exemplary model for the hard-working American who would be hurt by Obama’s tax policies.
The New York Times also reported that according to tax analysts, and contrary to McCain’s discourse, neither Wurzelbacher’s personal taxes nor those of the business where he works are likely to rise if Obama’s tax policies are put into effect.
“I am kind of like Britney Spears having a headache, Wurzelbacher said to the Associated Press, reported the New York Times.
