Japan Tsunami

On Friday an earthquake occurred in the same Japanese coast devastated by last year's massive earthquake and tsunami. Several people were reportedly injured and some building were moving, reported the L.A Times.

The earthquake had magnitude of 7.3 and occurred at 5:18 p.m. reported ABC News.

After the earthquake the authorities issued an alarm of a possible tsunami, but two hours later the alarmed was canceled, reported ABC, news.

L.A Times reported that the public television broadcaster NHK reported that five people were injured, including a 75-year-old woman in Miyagi.

There was no reports of any nuclear plants damages, but only two of Japan's 50 nuclear plants are operating at the moment. The other ones have been shut down for safety checks, reported L.A Times

A.J Barker

Gophers wide receiver A.J. Barker said he's quitting the team in an open letter posted in his Tumblr account Sunday afternoon, reported the Minnesota Daily.

Baker who was a walk-on in the team wrote: "Well, its official. I am done playing football for the University of Minnesota and I will be looking to transfer next season for my final yr,"reported the Pioneer Press.

In the letter, addressed to Coach Kill, Barker accused him of a long list of manipulation tactics, including lying and intimidation, reported the Minnesota Daily.

The Pioneer Press reported the Gophers athletics said they were looking into the situation. However, Coach Kill did not mention anything about the letter on his Sunday interview.

Bowl Game

The Gophers achieve their goal, according to the StarTribune, they are going to the game bowl this year.

This time the destination isn't the important thing, but as tailback Donnell Kirkwood said, "It shows that we're getting better," reported the StarTribune.

It was not an easy game against Illinios, reported Minnesota Daily. Illinois had a chance to tie the game towards the middle of fourth quarter, but Illinois player, Scheelhaase fumbled in his own territory while trying to stretch out for a first down, and the Gophers recovered the ball.

The Gophers still have two games left and something to improve is their offense, since against Illinois both offenses struggled to move the ball consistently, reported the Minnesota Daily.

Steve Nash will be out another week after having a small fracture on his left leg, reported Fox Sports.

Nash who got hurt in a accident with Portland Trailblazer Damian Lillard on Wednesday night, reported Fox Sports.

According to a statement release by the team, the L.A Times reported "small non-displaced fracture in the head of his fibula."

Nash missed already the Lakers' 105-95 loss against the Clippers on Friday night, reported Fox Sports.

Nash is going to be out for the games against the Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors Golden., reported L.A Times.

Hurricane Sandy

Sandy is the storm that has already taken nearly two- dozen lives in the Caribbean. But now meteorologists said it could impact the east of the United Sates, reported CNN.

Sandy is getting a lot of power and it could double threat into a "superstorm" that could sit over New England for days, reported CNN.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has been assisting the East Coast, with supplies such as water food, and blankets reported Boston News.

Boston Police William Evans reported to Boston News, "The city of Boston has been gearing up for this for several days," "Based on past storms, our main concerns are power wires coming down and trees blocking roads."

James Franklin of the National Hurricane Center, reported to CNN, "The large size of the system and its slow motion will mean a long-lasting event with two to three days of impacts."

Flavor Flav

Fox News reported that the police in Las Vegas said that the rapper Flavor Flav is jailed.

The 53-year-old former rapper and reality television star, is being held on $23,000 payment at the Clark County jail, reported CBS News.

Flav is accused from a domestic argument with his fiancée. He also tried to attack her teenage son with a knife, reported CBS News.

Flav was arrested around 3 a.m., reported Fox News.

It is not also clear if Flav has his own lawer for this case or the government will provide him one, reported CBS News.

Jeremy Lin

After becoming the new sensation superstar of the New York Knicks, Jeremy Lin is now a member of the Houston Rockets, reported Bleacher Report.

According Bleacher Report, the Associated Press (via ESPN), Lin spoke about going to Houston expects to take charge: "It kind of reminds me of college. Just coming in, trying to lead, trying to work hard, trying to build a culture of playing a blue-collar brand of basketball."

Some of the basketball experts are not sure how Lin is going to lead the Rockets. However, in Houston they are sure that Lin is going to be able to guide the team and get good results, reported Bleacher Report.

Although Lin is still recovering from his knee surgery, he has felt some pressure by the fans to start working and practicing with the team, reported nydailynews.

This is one of the reasons why the rockets will start the season with different line-ups, but they clarify to the Bleacher Report that Lin is not alone.
