Hey, everyone,
At some point, I'd like you to think about issues of public-and-private in conjunction wtih this blog. As you've noticed, anyone can access the blog; it's not password-protected. You'll need to write with that in mind, and while it's fine to post personal-experience anecdotes here, remember that anyone can read them, so don't post them if you're not okay with the fact that the material is public.
Underneath this post, you'll notice that it says "Posted by Clancy." The default name for "Posted by" is your first and last name. If you don't want your full name to be displayed, I encourage you to go to the "Nickname" field and put a nickname in. Here's how you do it:
1. Login to https://blog.lib.umn.edu.
2. Click on "Rhetoric 1101."
3. Look at the bar going across the top. You'll see "User: [your x500 ID]."
4. Click on your x500 ID.
5. In the "Nickname" field, put in your desired nickname and click "Save."
Your nickname can be anything (within reason, of course), even a series of letters and numbers like "h438hys." It doesn't matter to me -- but you do need to share it with me and with the other students in the class so we know who's posting what.
