The Young voters

I think it is really important for youth to pay attention to the presidential debates and decide for themselves who they want to be in control of the country. i found a link to this site on one of the listed web pages, and it had several issues that the debates cover. i recommend it to anyone who wants to see how the opposing sides are arguing on different topics. I looked at a few topics, and now i can start developing my own views on those topics, and which party i will vote. but as of yet, i am quite undecided. most of my friends are democratic, except for the few who support bush (along with my parents), and so it is interesting to talk about these topics and see how people my age feel about them. so young people should vote because they have views, and every vote counts.

I think it's an interesting paradox how so many people (parents, teachers, politicians, and even the media) are all encouraging the 'youth' of America to vote, but to vote for what ... to develop a political perspective recquires that someone knows how the government operates, what they believe as individuals, and the interaction that takes place. I for one have been raised one way, and am figuring out what I believe as an individual. I know that MTV has a huge campaigne going to get 18-24 year olds to vote, it's a little disconerting to me that they have also taken on the resposnsibility themselves to teach people the aforementioned sort of thing. I guess the potential for indoctrination is quite high depending on which side of the campaigne MTV is on, but I'd be willing to bet it's not the conservative side ... at any rate, the truth is, if anyone's mad that MTV is doing this, they're really just mad that they didn't think of doing something like that first.
