Should Marijuana Be Legalized

What up souls, I know the title of this sounds kind of funny, but I'm the type of person who thinks that this magical herb or relaxer should be legalized. In fact I am smoking this herb right now and it is motivating me to write this paper (ha-ha just kidding). Don't think I sound crazy when I say this but this is just the type of person I am. I kind of did some research on this and researchers show that marijuana is extremely useful in treating a variety of conditions including: nausea due to chemotherapy, elevated eye pressure due to glaucoma, and loss of appetite and nausea in AIDS patients. I mean if this herb is good for medicinal uses why is it still illegal. There are some states that have this herb legalized for medicinal purposes. I also researched how the crime rate has dropped in 1992 and how more people are in jail for possession of this herb. It seems to me that the war on crime is working well, but the war on marijuana is the opposite. Marijuana is very beneficial, but because it is illegal, patients either go without it or commit a crime to obtain this medication or magical herb. I think that it should be legalized because more deaths are happening because this magical herb some how got people craving over it. Illegalizing marijuana causes more harm than good. I think that it makes no sense to send people to jail for using this magical herb. There are a large amount of jails being created for people that's in jail for petty stuff. Most of the people in jail are in there for possession of marijuana. So if we make marijuana legal we would lower the cost on taxes. I mean what’s the worst this drug can do. It heals, relax, lower taxes and you can get employment with it. So for all those people that are unemployed this can actually help put out jobs. (I am being funny)

I agree with you on this. If it reduces pain and helps people a with disease then it should be legalized. I think that part of the reason why they won't is there is so much illeal usage. If marijuana were to become legal the authorities would want or need to find a way to regulate it like they do with alcohol like the breathalyzer. Legal or illegal people are still going to use it, so why not just be done with it?

I know that marijuana is legal for Native Americans and I don't know why it isn't legal for everyone else as well. Marijuana has never been proven to cause a fatal overdose, which is more than you can say for ordinary over-the-counter drugs which have. The only negative effects you can get from it, is the ordinary effects you get from smoking. So if you eat it (as funny as it sounds), the negative effects are minimal.

I heard that it can help medicinally too. Other legalized drugs are nicotine and caffeine. Neither have any benefits. Apparently caffeine is more addictive than marijuana. Caffeine can cause health issues and addiction if you have too much of it and its a drug also. If it were legalized it would be necessary to place restrictions on its usage as well as laws stating who can purchase it.

even tho this is old oh well..i don' think it shold be legal. theres no point. just to smoke up and get high for fun. its stupid. and there are more negative effects than you all stated. There os a chance of lung cancer, memory is weaker, coordination is slower, etc. and most people who use other illegal more dangerous drugs have started using marijuana first and that led them to their uses now

Mary, if you disagree with the argument being presented here, or with the style in which it's presented, do make your point(s), but personal attacks will not be tolerated. I expect the writers here to treat each other with common courtesy, and that goes for people outside the class too.
