Censorship

Hello again. i just had this flash about a topic that is important to talk about. the right of the government (or some other authority) to censor items like books, television, movies, songs, words. anything that they dont see as 'appropriate' shouldnt be displayed to the public. but i think that we shouldnt really put a censor on things, like words on tv or in songs, because how is the governmnet to judge what is acceptable and what is not? i think it is up to the parents to decide what is acceptable for their child to see/hear, not society. that way, parents can raise their children the way they want, not the way society as a whole recommends. plus, if the government does censor everything, and bans books, how are we as students going to learn about every viewpoint of every issue? i think the banning of books, especially, resrticts learning. so thats that

I wanted to comment on that because to me that sounds like a good point. The reason I say that is because when the child grow up to be on his/her own how would they know anything about what happens in the world. What I am saying is say the child never heard about rape or anything how would she be able to look out for that kind of stuff.
