Do you guys remember that one day in class that we were talking about schools distributing condoms to kids? Well, i was sitting here trying to think of something to blog about and that just randomly popped into my head. So do you think that it is a smart idea for schools to do that or do you think they are just promoting sex? Personally, i think that it is a good idea for schools to provide condoms for students that want them. I think this is a good idea because teenagers are going to do what they want (they have that sort of attitude) if they are protected or not and i think by atleast having that option available to them is a good thing. I am sure that it might make them think that the school is promoting it and it is possible that maybe some teens that werent think about it before might experiment but atleast they are using protecting and the students that were going to anyways have the option too. They should have some extra sex education that goes along with the condoms tho, like if they decide to distribute them they should have short classes on it once a year, just something to let them know more about sex and other birth control options. So what do u think?
Erin, I agree with you too about schools and condoms. The only reason that I think many schools won't is because many parents would be upset. Although it is a good idea to have them readily available, it does bring up a lot of touchy matters. Maybe if parents could sign a form saying that it is ok for their kid to go get condoms from school then it would be more accepted. But, you're right about kids doing whatever they want so, it would be a good idea to have them more available.

I also agree with the two of you. Kids are going to do w/e the heck they want and I do think it would be in the best interest to ditribute condoms to people on campus. My boyfriend from St. Thomas said that their RA was handing out a few to each resident during the first week of school. The condoms were donated by a health suppervision place. I think that was really a great idea. Let's get over it....everyone is college is tight on cash, and on time. If they don't have them around and that time comes up, they are most likely not going to stop to go pick up a pack.
I agree with all of you. It is a controversial topic. Parents and some teachers might have a problem with condom distribution. Its not promoting sex, its saying if you are going to have sex, have save sex. The topic is being blown up by people who are terrified over irrational fears.
