This Land

Hey everyone, I just watched the flash movie This Land...I found it pretty amusing. I’m not really sure if it’s an argument or not. I guess it could be and argument between Bush & Kerry on the basis of who makes a better president. I think the creators of the movie were trying to involve the audience in the election with a fun & amusing way, as opposed to the traditional serious way. It gave the audience some information on the two candidates. However, I don’t think it gave enough information to choose a candidate to vote for. The candidates were mostly making fun of each other with little useful information. The only real information in the video was saying that Bush is “right winged nut job” and Kerry is “liberal sissy”. Other than that it is just Bush & Kerry bashing each other (not that using “nut job” & “sissy” isn‘t bashing). The main emotion I had during the video was amusement They use pathos by showing the presidents in different outfits and places. For example it shows Bush all dressed in camouflage saying how he’s a “right winged nut”. It also shows Kerry as a baby holding a rattle being called a “liberal sissy”. I don’t really think this particular flash movie was a good way of making a well-reasoned argument. It really didn’t give much information on the two candidates....like I keep saying, they were just making fun of each other. There is not much solid information you can get from two candidates bashing each other. I think the main purpose of this parody was to amuse the audience. Which it did...at least for me. These flash movies can be made in to an effective argument but this particular one didn’t contain enough valuable information to do so.
