Well, when I go shopping and what not, I just check to see if I got something that goes with it already. As far as like body image, I got a different look for different situations. I got the club, preppy, hip-hop, low-key, and just sport. So I don't let my clothes talk for me, I talk for myself, but when I dress I ALWAYS make sure I look good. I do notice that you be looking good yourself. I like that in a lady. Hollatchabough.

Hey Abby! I am definitely interested in fashion but I also pull the lazy college student sweatsuit thing every once in awhile! Hehe! Anyways... I think girls tend to care more about body image when relating to clothes they wear and why. Or maybe it's related to sexuality of a person considering there are some guys that totally care about their image and appearance more than even some girls do. I think the ways clothes fit on your body can either give you a positive feel or a negative feel about your personal image. So overall, I'd say yes I'm interested in this subject, I do not know if there is alot of background info. regarding studies done around this question, but if you can find a good argument with it, I say go for it! It should be interesting! Have a great Friday! ~Courtney

Hey! I think this is a great topic. Not only do I love shopping, I love playing around with fashion even more. If that makes any sense. When I go shopping, which is very rarely since I have been put on probation, I do think about what clothes will look good on me and what not. I first look for color, then a style, then things to go with it to make an outfit. I am all about the outfits (even though I am always in sweats and a sweatshirt at school). Body image is a HUGE thing for me because of my eating disorder. I have very distorted body image and cannot even stand to see myself. I try to avoid mirros at all costs. Let alone, full length body mirros. I don't know if my opinion helps you at all, since mine is different from others. Sorry if it didn't help too much. I am looking forward to hear about what you come up with though! Have a great weekend!

Well, when I shop, which is very often, I look at many factors of my figure. I look at the clor and see if it goes with my skin. Blacks and browns are my thing, I will never wear yellow or orange. Also, I look at the shape of the peice of clothing to see if it will accent my figure or hide my figure. I usually try all of my clothes on, just to make sure that they make me feel good about myself.

well now, i have a slightly different view on such matters. i go shopping very rarely, and usually when i do, its to a thrift store, because i love getting the vintage and really crazy stuff that you just cant find at normal stores these days. yeah i guess i really dont care what i wear, as long as it doesnt make me look absolutely insane. i care a little about fashion i guess, but mainly it is fashion from other eras, (so i go to the thrift stores to collect stuff that will make an outfit from the era of my choice..)that i like. this probably doesnt help you at all, but i thought you might like my input anyways. good luck with that!

When I buy clothes I always consider 4 things: color, style, size and body image. For example, I hardly have any green clothes because green just doesn't seem to look good on me, while I have tons of blacks, pinks, blues and reds...some colors just go better with your skin tone than others. Size is important of course: If you buy somthing that is way too small, then your body can look really weird (same thing if you buy something too huge).
I usually buy specific styles of clothes that I like, it's not like every time there's a new trend I follow it. I have specific taste in style and I usually stick with that. Last of all, body image: I think that evryone has certain aspects of their body that they don't like to emphasize or vice versa. I definately take body image into consideration when buying clothes.

Your topic sounds mega interesting..I can't wait to see your final paper..I think your topic is the kind of topic that would spark interest in a lot of people (especially girls, although some guys care a lot more about their body image than some girls)...all in all GOOD LUCK !!!!!

Abby, I do consider my body image when I go shopping. I'm not one of the teeny tiny girls, so many clothes that are on the market these days are tailored for smaller frames and I don't want to feel umcomfortable in the clothes that I buy. I look for things that will make me look pretty but not inappropraite. Hope your paper is going well.
