Institute Of Medicine. Sept. 2004. National Academy of Sciences. 18 Oct. 2004 .

This is a plan that Congress inquired the Institute of Medicine to develop, regarding prevention of childhood obesity. This plan was developed by 19 experts related to the field of obesity in children. The 19 experts explain that childhood obesity is a problem that involves all of society. According to these experts society includes, Federal Government, Industry and Media, State and Local Governments, Health-Care Professionals, Community and Nonprofit Organizations, State and Local Education Authorities, and Schools. These experts stress, that the problems related to childhood obesity are associated with, behavioral, social, cultural, and other environmental factors. This report involves specific plans and suggestions that society can undergo to reduce the outbreak of childhood obesity. The experts believe that in order for the outbreak to be reduced, not only individual efforts need to be made but also industrial and societal efforts. This report also touches on facts and figures related to childhood obesity. It gives background information and statistics correlated with the causes of childhood obesity. The experts find that prevention of obesity mainly includes concentrating on energy balance, the amount of energy consumed in correlation with the amount expended.
This source is very credible. It comes from the knowledge of 19 experts related to childhood obesity. Also, this article was recommended by Dr. Marla Reicks who is a Registered dietitian and Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota, which helps the credibility of the source. This source will be used a lot for background information. It contains a lot of information that helps understand the causes and affects of obesity in children. I will also use this source for statistics. The source included helpful statistics to back up the fact that obesity is a problem and needs to be addressed by all of society. Parts of the report will also aid in supporting my argument. Especially areas of the article related to parents and ways parents can influence their children’s weight. The report contains useful information on ways parents can help their obese children become thinner in a safe and healthy way.

This is just a rough draft of one of my annotations. The website you can visit to see this source is http://www.iom.edu/report.asp?id=22596 if you have problems getting there let me know. Also if you have any suggestions on how I can make my annotation better please let me know, it would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Katelyn

Hey Katelyn! Your annotation looks pretty good..I still haven't started any of mine yet and I am starting to feel worried because I am sure that writing eight whole annotations takes up a lot more time than one might think! The problem is I have sooo much other work including a history midterm, and a big paper for political science (which is taking a lot of time)...I just haven't gotten around to starting the annotations and I don't know quite when I will be able to...oh well..hopefully soon...Im sorry that this comment probably isn't going to help you very much *frown*..but I just had to get that out of my system..sorry!! *relief*
