Hey guys/gals. I was just wondering if you think of the elections in the U.S. Do you think that they are fair and that there is no involvement of crime and corruption, or do you think that they are rigged one way or another. Anyhow, I am going to tell you a true story of what happened in Kazakhstan- my home country- about a month ago. A month ago, there were presidential elections in Kazakhstan. Although there were 13 (thirteen) parties running for the President, only 2 had any kind of advertisement: Him, the president, and his older daughter. I would understand him running for the president again if this was his second time, but this is not the case. This is his third term as a president, since 1991. I don't know who wrote the legislation/ constitution of the country, but evidently he didn't follow any rules listed there, which I don't think are even present. Anyway, after two terms being a president- back in '97- he decided to change the rules and said that each term is 5 years, instead of 4. then he changed it to 6, and then he changed to 7. ????? How does he do it? The elections that were conducted this year showed that he won again, with a 20 percent lead. Second place was taken by his daughter, but after the people requested a recount, the second place was taken by an imprisoned (!) political official. Therefore, teh standings were 1) President 2) Imprisoned official 3) Presidents daughter. The person that came in second place was arrested for dubious charges of treason right before the election. I don't even know who is the president after all this. Of you guys have any comments and ideas about this and the election here, in the US, please post.
Hey Olzhas, It's hard to decide if the election is fair here. Do you know about the election that took place here 4 years ago? It was a mess. People still believe that the election 4 years ago wasn't fair. I even have a hard time believing it was. I like to think that this years election is fair. I hope that the people in charge of the election learned from the mistakes made 4 years ago and did everything they could to prevent those mistakes from happening again. I've been watching the election coverage tonight and everything seems to be going pretty smooth. So I guess I feel pretty good saying that the election this year will turn out fair.
